Well, the first week of AM is coming to a close. The community really has been the biggest surprise for me. They are extremely enthusiastic about the school, helping each other, and of course animating. My first live Q&A held students from about 7 different time zones. If you think that’s surprising, you’ll be even more surprised to see how many working professionals are here at AM, not as mentors, but as students. I spent much of the first week running over the numerous demo reels on the various workspaces. I can already see some amazing talent being displayed from class 1. I’m very excited to see how things progress. My mentor, Elliott Roberts, is a freelance artist, having worked for Pixar and on Pirates of the Caribbean. He seems personally interested in each student and on helping them get the most out of their first few months. Needless to say, it has been a really exciting week.  To all you AM students out there, thanks for the warm welcome and good luck with the assignments to come.
